Share Wanting a Second Child Hits Record Low on Economic Concerns; Meiji Yasuda Survey

A survey by Meiji Yasuda Life Insurance finds that the share of people wanting a second child has reached a record low, with economic concerns cited as a major reason. Among married men and women with children up to age six, 28.2% of those with one child said they want a second, down 5.1 points from the previous year. The figure has fallen for six consecutive years since the survey began in 2018. Average monthly childcare costs also rose to a record high.

大手生命保険会社の子育てに関するアンケートで、経済面などへの不安から2人目の子どもを望む人の割合が過去最低になりました。 　明治安田生命が6歳までの子どもがいる既婚の男女1100人にアンケートを行ったところ、子どもが1人いる人のうち「2人目を希望する」と答えた人は去年より5.1ポイント減り28.2％でした。 　2018年の調査開始以来6年連続で減少していて、過去最低となりました。 　理由は「将来の収入面への不安」（54.5％）が最も多く、前の年から9ポイント増加しました。 　その一方で、経済的な状況などが改善すれば「2人目を望めるようになる」と回答した人は66.4％となりました。 　また、「物価高により子育て費用に負担を感じる」と回答した人はおよそ8割に上り、一人あたりの子育て費用は月額平均4万3356円と、前の年（4万1162円）からおよそ2000円増え、過去最高額となりました。 　負担を感じる費用は「食費」（44.6％）が最も多く、次いで「習い事やお稽古事の費用」（34.9％）、「保育園・幼稚園代」（32.8％）でした。 　明治安田生命は、子育て世帯の負担が「教育費・保育料」から「日々の生活費」に広がっている実態が見えてきたと指摘しています。 [テレ朝NEWS] https://news.tv-asahi.co.jp
