South Korean military holds large-scale drill with US forces, proposes military talks with North Korea

The South Korean military carried out a large-scale drill that it described as assuming a full-scale war, amid rising tensions over the military demarcation line with North Korea. About 4,100 South Korean and US troops took part over five days, including various missile launch exercises and training to detect and destroy simulated enemy drones by radar. South Korea's Ministry of National Defense also proposed military authority talks with North Korea, warning that differing views on the border line could lead to accidental clashes.

韓国と北朝鮮の軍事境界線を巡る緊張が高まるなか、韓国軍が「全面戦争を想定した」大規模な訓練を行いました。 　韓国軍が23日に公開した映像では、多様なミサイル発射訓練の様子が確認できます。 　訓練には5日間で韓国軍とアメリカ軍の将兵およそ4100人が参加し、敵の無人機を想定した標的をレーダーで探知し、撃破する訓練などが行われました。 　また、トランプ大統領の指示で8月の米韓合同軍事演習が縮小されたことを受けて調整された訓練の一部を、今回の訓練と並行して実施したということです。 　一方、韓国国防省は今月23日、軍事境界線の位置を巡る認識の違いが偶発的な衝突につながる恐れがあるとして、北朝鮮に軍事当局者会談を提案しました。 　軍事的な備えを進める一方で、北朝鮮との対話も求めています。 [テレ朝NEWS] https://news.tv-asahi.co.jp
