Squirrel Stuffs Tissues Into Cheeks – Machida Squirrel Park

A two-year-old Richardson's ground squirrel named Komagatake at Machida Squirrel Park is shown stuffing tissue paper into her mouth. The clip begins with the squirrel eating an apple, then moves to her tucking tissues into her cheeks until they are full, and finally pulling tissues directly from a box. According to keeper Miho Yanase, squirrels gather dry grass for nest building in the wild, while in captivity they often prefer tissues because they are easy to obtain and soft, warm and breathable. The video has no narration.
