One year after Takaichi's Taiwan contingency remarks: China again demands retraction

A deputy spokesperson of China's Foreign Ministry, Guo Jiakun, was asked about the one-year anniversary of Prime Minister Takaichi's remarks on a Taiwan contingency and said Japan had not corrected its mistake and had shown no sincerity or action. He made the comments at a press conference on November 6. He said responsibility for the serious difficulties in China-Japan relations lies entirely with Japan, and China demanded that the remarks be withdrawn. Concerns have also been raised about whether a China-Japan leaders' meeting will take place at the APEC summit scheduled in China in two weeks.
