Agriculture Minister Takebe denies slush fund allegations in weekly magazine report

Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Minister Takebe responded to a weekly magazine report alleging that election expenses were double-recorded to create a slush fund. The minister acknowledged that there were errors in the records but said that no such fund exists. He attributed the mistake to a misunderstanding and insufficient confirmation by the administrative staff at the time. He also said the reports could not be corrected because their retention period had expired.
