Four deaths on Tobu Nikko Line: accident review committee established (November 4, 2026)

Tobu Railway has set up a third-party accident review committee following an incident on the Tobu Nikko Line in which four workers were struck and killed by a limited express train. The accident took place in August at Shin-Kanuma Station in Tochigi Prefecture. An interim report submitted by Tobu Railway found several rule violations, including that a person who was not the site supervisor was directing work at the time. The committee will examine the background to these violations.

東武日光線で作業員4人が特急列車にはねられ死亡した事故を受け、東武鉄道は第三者による事故検証委員会を設置しました。 事故検証委員会　小松原明哲委員長 「今後このような痛ましい事故が二度と起きないように、会社としてどのような安全性向上策を講じるべきかということを東武鉄道に提言することを目標に進めたい」 　8月、栃木県にある東武日光線の新鹿沼駅で、作業員ら4人が特急列車「スペーシアX」にはねられて死亡しました。 　東武鉄道が提出した中間報告書では、事故当時、現場責任者ではない人物が指揮を執っていたなど複数の規程違反が確認されています。 　委員会では、こうした規定違反が起きた背景などを検証していくということです。 [テレ朝NEWS] https://news.tv-asahi.co.jp
