Hostage standoff in Tokai, Aichi: hostage rescued, man arrested

A man holding a bladed object took a male hostage and barricaded himself inside a two-story house in Nawa district, Tokai city, Aichi Prefecture, according to police. Officers arrived and attempted to persuade him before storming the house on the morning of the 2nd. The hostage was rescued at 10:45 a.m., and the man was arrested on suspicion of unlawful confinement. Police said neither the hostage nor the man was injured.
