White-Hat Hacker Team to Launch Next Month; Minister Says Defense Must Exceed Attackers' Efforts

Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry announced that a specialized team of engineers, known as white hackers, will be launched next month following a series of unauthorized access incidents. Minister Akazawa said high-performance AI would also be used on the defensive side, with penetration tests carried out thoroughly to identify system weaknesses. The team is planned to be set up within the Information-technology Promotion Agency (IPA). The report also noted that websites of ministry-affiliated organizations became inaccessible after a vulnerability was found in PHP.

相次ぐ不正アクセスを受け、経済産業省は「オフホワイトハッカー」と呼ばれる技術者の専門チームを来月立ち上げると発表しました。 赤沢経済産業大臣 「高性能AIを防御側にも活用し、模擬的な攻撃でシステムの弱点を確かめる試験、いわゆる『ペネトレーションテスト』を徹底的に行うということをやるしかない」 　赤沢大臣は、「攻撃者以上の攻撃を行い、システムの脆弱（ぜいじゃく）性を見つける『オフホワイトハッカー』を集めて、来月中に情報処理推進機構（IPA）にチームを立ち上げる」としています。 　また、プログラミング言語のPHPに脆弱性が見つかったことに伴い、経産省が所管する日本貿易保険、高圧ガス保安協会などでもホームページが見られなくなっています。 [テレ朝NEWS] https://news.tv-asahi.co.jp
