Agriculture Minister Yanagi says he will stay on and fulfil his duties, responding to opposition calls to resign

Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Minister Yanagi told the House of Representatives Budget Committee that he intends to keep his post after opposition lawmakers called on him to resign over issues including free transport for supporters during elections. He said he wants to fully carry out his duties, focusing on agricultural policy and food security. Nagatomo of the Democratic Party for the People also questioned remarks the minister allegedly made during a visit to disaster-hit areas in Kumamoto on October 3. Yanagi said he did not recall the wording and explained that he meant to apologise for the press conference format after repeated questions about himself.

簗農林水産大臣は衆議院予算委員会で、選挙での支援者の無料送迎などを巡り野党側から辞任を求められたことに対し「全力で職責を全うしたい」と述べ、続投する考えを示しました。 国民民主党　長友衆院議員 「簗大臣もうそろそろご自身で進退を決めるべきかと考えますが、改めて伺いたいと思います。いかがでしょうか」 簗農水大臣 「総理から任命をいただいておりますので、農林水産政策、そして食料安全保障の確保。これをしっかりと進めていくということについて、全力で職責を全うしてまいりたいと、そのように考えております」 　国民民主党の長友議員は、簗大臣が10月3日に熊本県の被災地を視察した際、地元の市長らに対し「クソみたいな質問をしてくる記者を連れてきちゃいましてすみませんね」と発言したとされる問題についてただしました。 　簗大臣は、どのような表現を使ったか「記憶にない」としたうえで、視察後の会見で自身を巡る問題への質問が相次いだため、「こういった形の会見になって申し訳ない」という趣旨だったと釈明しました。 [テレ朝NEWS] https://news.tv-asahi.co.jp
