Description de TEDx Talks

In a society shaped by the pursuit of approval, external expectations can quietly become rules we live by. In the TEDx talk “Sorcery: The Illusion of Authority,” a young sorcerer and a mysterious hall of mirrors serve as metaphors for how praise, criticism, and the fear of judgement shape our choices. The talk reminds us that, while guidance and criticism have their place, they should not determine who we are allowed to become, and challenges us to question the authority we give to others’ perceptions of ourselves. Meet Aditya Gupta, a Grade 12 CBSE student with a fascination for mathematics, physics, and chemistry. He enjoys learning about the world in all its forms, whether that means exploring somewhere new, discovering an unexpected idea, or simply figuring out why something works the way it does. Away from academics, he enjoys eating good food, exploring new places, taking pictures, or immersing himself into a fantasy or supernatural story. When none of these things are happening, there is a very good chance he is doomscrolling with no intention of stopping anytime soon. As a TEDx speaker, Aditya hopes to challenge the way we think about the forces that shape our choices and the authority we give to the voices around us. Through storytelling, curiosity, and a questionable sense of humor, he hopes to leave the audience with a new way of looking at something they thought they already understood. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
