グリーンビルディングの進展は技術だけでなく、それを担う人材にも大きく依存している、という主張を持つ講演です。登壇者は持続可能性の専門家トニー・マイヤーズ氏で、2013年以降のグリーンビルディング活動の広がりと、技術向上や建築エネルギー性能基準の強化にもかかわらず、持続可能性分野の人材パイプラインが依然として薄いことを取り上げています。マイヤーズ氏はメリーランド州の公共施設におけるエネルギー監査プログラムを担当し、若い世代が環境分野のキャリアを選ぶよう呼びかけています。本講演は独立して運営されたTEDxイベントで行われました。

Tony Myers is a sustainability professional dedicated to advocating for the power of green careers and working to inspire the next generation to enter the sustainability workforce. Green building initiatives have grown consistently since he joined the field in 2013. Better tech and tighter Building Energy Performance Standards exist, yet the talent pipeline remains thin. Technology gives us the tools, but skilled people give us our future. Tony Myers is a sustainability professional bridging the "Green Skills" gap. Since 2020, he has managed the State of Maryland’s Department of General Services Energy Audit Program, leading eco-initiatives across public facilities. Tony began his energy efficiency career in 2013, progressing from refrigeration upgrades to large commercial retrofits. In 2022, he joined MoCo Green Futures to fight the environmental talent shortage. Through this role, he champions green careers and inspires the next generation to enter the workforce.
