Headlines often reduce people to their suffering—hunger, displacement, poverty, and a lack of resources. In this moving TEDx talk, Dr. Benjamin John shares a transformative encounter with a malnourished child in Dikwa in 2018 that reshaped their understanding of aid and development. Challenging the habit of viewing communities merely as passive recipients of charity, the talk reveals how vulnerability does not erase capability, resilience, or local knowledge.
