屋外教育が心の健康や自然への理解にどう影響するかを取り上げたTEDxEncinitas Blvdでの講演です。講演者のColette Rossowは、人々は企業のロゴより多くの葉の名前を挙げられるかという問いを投げかけ、自然の中で過ごす時間の意義を論じています。Rossowは学生活動家、オーガナイザー、環境活動家であり、屋外教育者・カウンセラーや大学の植物園での園芸アシスタントとしての経験があります。本講演は独立して運営されたTEDxイベントで行われました。

This talk from Colette Rossow at TEDxEncinitasBlvd explores how outdoor education can improve mental health and appreciation for the natural world. With a thought-provoking presentation, this talk asks if you can name more leaves than corporate logos. TEDxEncinitasBlvd was made possible by Executive Producer, Lead Organizer, and Editor Rohan Phadnis, WayZero, and BAAIRS. Colette Rossow is a student activist, organizer, environmentalist, and outdoor enthusiast. She spent her childhood on trails all over the state, backpacking, hiking, and observing the local native species. She has worked as an outdoor educator-counselor, teaching students about climate, sustainable agriculture, and environmental stewardship as well as a horticultural assistant for her college’s botanical gardens. In the advocacy sphere, after developing and leading her high school’s environmental action organization for three years, she has gone on to hold secretary, community outreach, and vice president positions on the executive board of Wellesley College YDSA. Colette was awarded the Chatham University Rachel Carson Book Award for excellence in environmental studies, English, and social justice and is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Arts at Wellesley College in Massachusetts.
