Angel Garcia reframes the criminal record, once his own, as a hidden curriculum, asking who we overlook when we decide who's fit to lead. Angel Garcia is a violence intervention strategist, reentry advocate, author, and founder of Street to Strategy Consulting. A former South Los Angeles gang member who served thirteen years across three prison terms, he now helps lead Albuquerque's Violence Intervention Program and serves on the National Association of Reentry Professionals' board. Drawing on his book The Hood's Curriculum, Angel's talk asks audiences to look past a criminal record and consider what it might actually represent — and who we're overlooking when we decide who gets to lead.
