広州ulink国際学校の11年生、リチャード・リウ氏が、広州の各地で追いかけてきた若いサイクリング愛好家のグループについて語ります。若者のサイクリング文化を取り上げ、社会がこうしたライダーをしばしば否定的な固定観念で見ていることを考察します。その背景にある社会的要因を探り、理解していない行動やコミュニティへの判断を見直すよう呼びかけます。本講演は、独立して運営されたTEDxイベント、TEDxGUIS Guangzhou Youthで行われました。

In this insightful talk, Richard Liu takes us into the world of a group of young cycling enthusiasts he has followed across different parts of Guangzhou. Through his observations and experiences, he explores youth cycling culture and examines how society often views these young riders through negative stereotypes and misconceptions. Richard looks beyond these perceptions to investigate the social factors behind the phenomenon and invites us to reconsider how we judge behaviours and communities we may not fully understand. His talk encourages us to look beyond appearances, question our assumptions, and recognise the importance of understanding different youth subcultures from the perspectives of those who experience them.
