Credit union ATM outage in western Japan fully restored after about 5.5 hours; cause was equipment failure

ATMs and counter transactions stopped at 128 credit unions west of Shizuoka and Aichy prefectures. The outage began around 1:30 p.m. on the 6th and was fully restored at 7:05 p.m. The cause is believed to be partial equipment failure linked to a system update of ATMs in western Japan last month, not unauthorized external access. A detailed investigation is planned.

東海地区より西にある信用金庫でATMなどが使えなくなったトラブルは、システムの更新による機器の故障が原因でした。発生からおよそ5時間半後に復旧しました。 　全国の信用金庫にATMのシステムなどを提供している「しんきん共同センター」によりますと、6日午後1時半から、静岡や愛知より西にある128の信用金庫ですべてのATMが使えなくなり、3430店舗の窓口の取引も停止しました。 　その後、段階的に回復し午後7時5分に全面復旧しました。 　原因は外部からの不正アクセスではなく、先月、実施した西日本エリアのATMのシステムの更新に伴う、一部の機器の故障だとみられるということです。 　今後、詳細な調査を進めるとしています。 [テレ朝NEWS] https://news.tv-asahi.co.jp
