Individual government bond applications top 2 trillion yen, highest in 20 years

Japan's Ministry of Finance announced that this month's issuance of individual government bonds exceeded 2 trillion yen. The level is the highest in about 20 years, since July 2006. Rising interest rates have boosted demand, and issuance this fiscal year has already surpassed last year's total of 6.1526 trillion yen. The government is considering new products to attract more buyers.

財務省は今月の個人向け国債の発行額が2兆円を超えると発表しました。20年ぶりの大きさです。 　財務省によりますと、3種類ある個人向け国債の今月の発行額は、2兆255億円余りでした。 　2種類の商品のみが発行されていた2006年7月以来、20年ぶりに2兆円を超えました。 　内訳は、1年間の金利が2.39％の「固定5年」がおよそ1兆3151億円で、他の2種類を大きく上回りました。 　2.05％の「変動10年」はおよそ3610億円、2.07％の「固定3年」はおよそ3495億円でした。 　個人向け国債は元本が保証され、1年たてば途中で換金もできます。 　金利の上昇を背景に人気が高まり、今年度の発行額はすでに昨年度の6兆1526億円を大きく上回っています。 　政府は国債の買い手を増やすために、利子が再投資される「複利型」や、「20年債」といった新たな個人向け国債の商品の追加を検討しています。 [テレ朝NEWS] https://news.tv-asahi.co.jp
