Food-focused lucky bags increase for next year at Japanese department stores
Japanese department stores have announced their lucky bags for next year, and food-based bags are increasing amid rising prices and a consumption tax cut. Tobu Department Store expects stay-at-home demand to grow and is selling sashimi boats worth 50,000 yen for 20,027 yen, named after the year 2027. A subscription-style bag delivering items such as furikake and retort curry over three months is also offered. Matsuya is supporting restaurants excluded from the consumption tax cut with a set of frozen foods and meal tickets priced at 100,000 yen.
