Large Crowds at Tori no Ichi in Asakusa as Kumade Rakes and Hand-Clapping Mark the Festival

The Tori no Ichi festival has begun at Otori Shrine in Tokyo's Asakusa district, marking the arrival of winter. Shortly after midnight, the first drum sounded in the shrine grounds. Kumade rakes, decorated with wishes for good fortune and business prosperity, were displayed in many sizes at stalls lining the grounds, and hand-clapping rang out with each purchase. The festival is also scheduled to take place on the 19th of this month.

東京・浅草の「鷲神社」では冬の訪れを告げる「酉（とり）の市」が始まりました。 　7日午前0時、一番太鼓の音が境内に鳴り響きます。 　江戸時代から続く酉の市が、今年も浅草の鷲神社で始まりました。 　酉の市は毎年11月の「酉の日」に行われる祭りで、たくさんの屋台が軒を連ね、店先には開運と商売繁盛の願いが込められた大小様々な縁起物の熊手が所狭しと並びます。 　事業の繁栄を願い、関西から足を運ぶ人もいました。 兵庫から来た運送業の男性 「本社が関西でこういうのは縁がないんですけども、買いだしたら業績が伸びて、縁起物なので、そこからずっと続いている」 飲食店経営の男性 「（Q.毎年買われているのか？）そうです。同じ所で買ってます」 「（Q.何年買っているのか？）もう20年」 「（Q.ちなみにおいくら…？）それは聞くのはやぼだよ。やぼなんだよ」 　福を掻き込むとされる熊手は縁起物として飾られますが、なかには自分の好きな推しを飾ることのできる「推し活」を意識したものも販売していました。 　境内には熊手が買われていくたびに威勢の良い手締めの音があちこちで響き渡りました。 　今年の酉の市は今月19日にも開かれる予定です。 [テレ朝NEWS] https://news.tv-asahi.co.jp
