TEDx Talks による説明

Above 8,000 meters, the human body stops building new cells and slowly begins to consume itself. Dr. Babar Ali, a Bangladeshi physician and mountaineer, has stood on Everest and, without supplemental oxygen, on Lhotse, Annapurna I, and Manaslu, a feat no other Bangladeshi has achieved. In this talk, he traces his path from an armchair traveler who first met the Himalayas through the pages of a book to a man who walked all 64 districts of Bangladesh and cycled from Kashmir to Kanyakumari. He explains why mountaineering is the king of all sports, where there is no opponent, no audience, and no room for error. He also shows how the high mountains strip life down to its essentials and reveal what you are truly capable of. His closing message: we all have mountains to climb, and sometimes life’s daily climb is tougher than the highest peak. Babar Ali is a Bangladeshi physician and mountaineer known for his pioneering achievements in high-altitude climbing. He gained national recognition in 2024 when he became the sixth Bangladeshi to summit Mount Everest and the first to climb Lhotse, completing two eight-thousand-meter peaks in a single expedition. Prior to this, he was the first Bangladeshi to summit Ama Dablam in 2022, a highly technical Himalayan peak. Beyond mountaineering, Ali co-founded the climbing club Vertical Dreamers in Chattogram and has undertaken adventurous journeys such as a 4,000 km cycling route across India. Holding an MBBS from Chittagong Medical College, he has worked in public health but shifted his focus to mountaineering, earning a reputation for courage, endurance, and inspiring the next generation of Bangladeshi climbers. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
