Fed holds rates steady for first time in two meetings; Chair Warsh says inflation is still too high

The US Federal Reserve kept its policy rate in a range of 3.75% to 4% on the 28th, as concerns about inflation driven by rising oil prices continued. The decision followed a rate hike last month, the first in three years and two months. Two of the 12 members dissented in favor of a further increase. Chair Warsh said inflation remains too high, stressing that curbing prices is the priority.

アメリカのFRB（連邦準備制度理事会）は金融政策を決める会合を開き、2会合ぶりに政策金利を据え置きました。 　FRBは28日、原油価格の高騰などによるインフレへの警戒が続くなか、政策金利を3.75％から4％の範囲に据え置きました。 　FRBは先月、3年2カ月ぶりとなる利上げに踏み切りましたが、物価や景気の動向を慎重に見極める判断をしたものとみられます。 　今回の会合では12人のうち2人が反対し、利上げを主張しました。 　中間選挙が目前に迫るなか、追加の利上げは金利の引き下げを求めるトランプ大統領との対立を深める可能性もあり、FRBの判断に注目が集まっていました。 　これについてウォーシュ議長は次のように述べました。 FRB　ウォーシュ議長 「政治は今回の決定に全く関係しなかった。私はFOMCのメンバーと2日間過ごしたが、政治に関する発言は一切耳にしなかった」 　一方、ウォーシュ議長は「インフレ率は依然として高すぎる」と述べ、物価の抑制を優先する姿勢を強調しました。 　FRBは9月の会合で年内にあと1回の利上げという見通しを明らかにしていて、次回12月の会合で追加の利上げに踏み切るかが焦点となります。 （C）　CABLE NEWS NETWORK 2026 [テレ朝NEWS] https://news.tv-asahi.co.jp
